anoldghost asked: Right on! Do you find that as an art director and graphic designer you get compensated enough for what you do? I mean, you're not just anyone, right? You've done work for people such as Britney Spears and Pink! I'm currently studying a BFA and while I'm certainly not at the level you are right now I live in constant fear of what the world holds for an artist/graphic designer. I have a ton of other questions as well. For another day perhaps.
This is a tricky question. In the commercial world there seems to be much more money in the photography, styling, and photo art direction than design. That’s not to say that designers in entertainment are not well compensated, but at times you definitely feel the lack of “value” that other industry professionals hold in design. I’m lucky enough to have a full-time job and be able to juggle the freelance work I want to take on. If I’m excited about a project, I’m usually more inclined to participate as opposed to something boring that pays a bit more - you just need to figure out how you value your time. As a student you’re in a good position to be ambitious and curious, take in as much as you can and don’t feel jaded just yet. And sorry for the late response!
